Donaher Post 1

Who decided that "north" meant "up"? Why is the arctic at the top of the Earth? It can just as easily be at the bottom since in space, there isn't really an up and down. East and West I understand; they follow the direction of the sun– left to right. Even if the arctic was recorded to be at the bottom, we would still be calling it North.
