Skotz Week 6
On Saturday, I played Muffin Roulette with a couple friends. We made six extremely dry corn muffins: one with ghost pepper, three with yellow habanero, and two plain. I ended up with one yellow habanero and one plain. However since I ate the last of the six muffins, which we knew was plain, I decided to spice it up. I let my friends grab three condiments and had one of them think of a number out of ten and for every time I guessed incorrectly, I added a condiment. It took me nine guesses. Chunky salsa, Red Hot, and onion powder were my punishments. To add to my impending doom I accidentally poured like half the bottle of onion powder on top of the muffin. Ya know that moment when you thought you had the pepper shaker but it turned out to be salt? That was me. To sum things up, I ate the most disgusting muffin in my life on Saturday and felt like death would've been a better option.

A recommendation:
There is no feeling on earth more blissful than the one you get standing in an alleyway behind a 24-hour dry cleaner at 2:30 AM on a cold night, letting the warm, lavender-scented air hit your face. You will feel crazy, but just crazy enough to think that it is actually every other soul in the world that is insane- you are the one who breathes the best air. Dry cleaning powers activate.

KOTARY WEEK ONE
Zombie Apocalypse Plan (ASSUMING I AM THE LAST PERSON IN MY FAMILY ALIVE):
I live by the train tracks in Littleton, so I would follow the tracks to a small town. Running to my car, I would first grab a ski pole or a shovel from my garage. I would drive to the road near the station, and walk there through the woods. I would make sure I had blood on my clothes so that I could hide behind the trees until I could get on the tracks. Then I would walk to the small town, maintaining my pace for as long as I could. The goal would be to get there and to either find people, or be able to raid a grocery store. I would bring my cats with me, because they wouldn't deserve to be left behind. I would find and empty house and board up, and learn to heat the house with wood. I would barricade all but one door and keep the other door locked during the day. This would allow me to keep the cats in, the zombies out, and still be able to go out and find food, water, medicine, weapons, and any other necessities. I'd stay like that as long as I possibly could...
But let's be real: I'd die in the first five minutes.

I wonder how much of life revolves around the pursuit of poison. Happiness is not a lifestyle, but a momentary high. One which, like any other high, will precede an inevitable crash.
With all pleasure, there is eventual pain, and through all agony, an eventual relief. We pursue pleasure, knowing in the back of our minds that it is a fleeting phantom. Despite the predicted fall, we still reach, jump, and break our backs for beautiful, intoxifying poison. It gives us something for which to aim. With it, we are sick, yet confident- without it, life is dull; directionless; meaningless.
Bring forth the poison
Let me indulge in my own insanity
Rather than waste away,
Leaving behind no chaos

Madison Week 10
Stop playing the victim. Nobody wants to hear the same sad song over and over again. People become numb and used to your excuses after you say it too much. Stop making excuses for your complete and utter disregard for the people around you, and the people who try to care for you. All your doing is pushing them away because you don't take responsibility for your actions. I hope you're happy.

Riordan Week 9
Stupidity is one of our most precious human traits, for our best emotions are locked inside of it.
Tuesday, May 9, 2017
Riordan Week 8
Story idea: In a polytheistic fantasy world, a hero is chosen by the gods to liberate the world from the powers of darkness. That hero turns out to be a 100-year-old village elder.
Riordan Week 7
The silence was like the vacuum of space; his insides felt as though they were sucked out and spilling into the open.
Riordan Week 6
Story idea: society has been able to track people's past lives based on certain aspects (who knows lmao). The story focuses on a normal, relatively upstanding citizen who was suddenly found to have a past life as an infamous serial killer and imprisoned for life.
Riordan Week 5
They call it red delicious
But this delicious is fictitious
These apples are suspicious
For their taste is just malicious

Riordan Week 4
He smiled briefly, subconsciously believing himself privy to the secret methods of his mind by the ancestral pool they mutually indulged in.
Riordan Week 3
Finally, as he looked around him and saw everything he ever wanted, he realized the hidden truth carved into the hearts of all men, and he cried from his deepest abyss, facing true sorrow for the first time.
Riordan Week 1
"A pitfall's face is just a bunch of teeth! It's eyes are just shoved in the back like an afterthought!"
Surampudi Week 9
maybe all the socks that disappear in the laundry get stolen by the Devil for his sock collection
Surampudi Week 8
what if some people are always cold because they're always giving warmth out to others
Monday, May 8, 2017
Skotz Week 9
The cold night sand under my feet sent a refreshing wave of shivers that commuted through the terminals of my body taking my volleyball focused mind for a sensual revolution.
Madison Week 9
Sometimes things happen that you never in a million years thought would. That doesn't mean it's bad or wrong, just...surprising.

Surampudi Week 6
imagine if you could freeze time— so whenever you want to get out of a conversation you can just freeze time and think about what you want to say

Skotz Week 8
Saturday I went to Buffalo Wild Wings with three friends and we got the chance to try their new to be released sauce - the Scorpion Reaper. We all made it through thanks to multiple bottles of milk amidst the pain, agony, and burning. However, the scorpion's venom wasn't finished and to this day we are still suffering. Please pray for us.
Barstow Week 8
They say scars "heal", but the whole point of a scar is that it never heals. It leaves a permanent tattoo. The thing is, unless our sleeves are striped with the manifestation of real scars, they go unnoticed, virtually invisible. The sticks and stones can break our bones, but scars can fade: when words are burned into our brains, those will be on our minds forever. In damage, physical and emotional abuse are equal.

Skotz Week 7
Schroeder Week 7
Seeing the world from the top of a skyscraper changes your point of view not just momentarily, but for the rest of your life; since you just realized how tiny you are in the vastness of reality.

"I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you make them feel." -Maya Angelou
Ciara Work 7
I don’t pretend to be the Lorax, but while he has the orange part down, Donald Trump should NOT hold the seat to speak for the trees.

Teddy Week 7
"two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl..."
-Wish You Were Here, Pink Floyd
Think about it: We look at fish in a bowl and think how simple a life they have. We laugh because they think their reflection is another fish. What would it be like to live not knowing so much? But then again... don't we?
(Yikes.)

Skotz Week 2
Yesterday my mom called my room a frat house. Im not sure if i should be proud of myself or be reconsidering my life choices
Skotz Week 3
#30 minutes in to playing at Teamworks my friend got my soccer ball stuck in the roof. I gave him a death look to which he responded with "Cash me ousside den!" and ran away.
The ball is rumored to still be there to this day.
The ball is rumored to still be there to this day.
Li Week 6
Sometimes when I really think about a word, it starts to sound really foreign to me, like it doesn't even belong in the English language.
Skotz Week 4
I just typed in "Skotz" to title his draft and it corrected it to "Scotts". Apparently my last name comes secondary to a garden fertilizer brand. #seemslegit
Skotz Week 5
Last week I got nutmegged by an 8 year old. Also last week, I finally came to understand why people quit the things they love.
Skotz Week 6
While three of my friends and I were driving to Teamworks on Friday I quoted Skrillex and screamed "OH MY GOD! CALL 911 NOW!" making my friend Jake, who was driving, to accelerate ten mph in less than a second. Thank god no one was in front of us.
Ciara Week 6
Photography, as life, is the interplay of light and dark; when overexposed, you can't see what's truly dark, and inversely, you must have shadows to get a picture. It's all about finding the balance to take your best shot.
Madison Week 6
"It's a wormmmmmmm." - Lauren mackenzie looking at a stray pencil mark coming out of the apple on my computer
Wright Week 6
"If you truly pour your heart into what you believe in, even if it makes you vulnerable, amazing things can and will happen." -Emma Watson
Vuilleumier Week 6
Its like patching up a sinking ship with bandages, plugging holes with cotton balls. Only temporary, never totally fixed, and never to the same extent it used to be. Struggling to stay afloat to remain sane- if you can call it that.
Ross Week 5
We are all trying so hard to be rebellious and unique to the point where it is now rebellious and unique to simply follow the rules.
Teddy Week 6
I ran into my best friends arms without a word and all he said to me was, "I've got you."
Morton 6
Ali's car breaking down was either a sign that we shouldn't have participated in Senior Skip Day, or a an attempt by fate to save us from seeing Beauty and the Beast.
Morton Week 5
Watching the Dancing in the Dark video and wishing I were Courtney Cox. This is an event that happens often.
Friday, March 17, 2017
Wright Week 5
"I'll never understand how time can make a moment feel as close as yesterday and as far as years." -History Is All You Left Me, Adam Silvera
Surampudi Week 5
I once had a dream about swimming inside a volcano. I'd say it was cool, but it really wasn't.
Rottger Week 5
My dad has been bringing home movies he watched when he was younger, and we've been watching them during dinner. Normally I'm not a proponent of eating in front of the TV, but it's become a really special time. It's really sweet to see him get excited when we really like a movie. We started with My Cousin Vinnie and Jordan and I were laughing so hard.
Dad was sitting on the other side of the couch smiling the whole time.
Dad was sitting on the other side of the couch smiling the whole time.
Surampudi Week 4
Sometimes when I'm on YouTube, I'll come across a sad song. While I'm listening to it, I scroll through the comments and I'm surprised to see how many people relate to it. I want to be able to relate to it, too, to see how it feels, but at the same time, I don't.
Li Week 5
My friend takes ceramics and brought some of her pieces home. Her dad took a look and said, "What is that called...art?" It's unclear whether he was being sarcastic or whether he just didn't know the word for "ceramics".

Madison Week 5
But through all of that, even when the Morningstar comes, you refuse to let go. It may be cracked, but it is not broken. Not yet. Not today. Not ever.
MacKenzie Week 5
Our love is like a chessboard. I move forward, you move backwards. And then suddenly I'm your queen and you're my knight, constantly trying to hunt me down because "you made a wrong move". But you aren't the king I wanted, this is a game I'd rather lose.
Madison Week 4
Watching people do what they love is amazing. Truly, completely, undoubtedly amazing. Especially when it is something that doesn't happen for everyone. You can see it in their face, their body movements, their eyes. It is so painfully obvious when someone is doing something they truly love. It's rewarding. For them and for you. It's nice to know things can work out.

Week 5 Overington
"Why would you call it wood if it wouldn't?
Why would you call it a can if it can't?
Why would you name your son Will if he won’t?"
Kay 5
There's this horse at my barn who is a legit a-hole and everybody hates him because he hates everything and bites everybody and sucks but for some unknown reason I have this deep love for him? Like I care so deeply about this horse even though he bites me on the daily idk
Li Week 4
Heard at Chinese school:
*Teacher complains that kids aren't speaking Chinese in class
Kid: It's weird when you go shopping and your mom talks to you in Chinese. If you talk to her in English, people will think you're cool and American.
Teacher: I don't think you're cool.

Rottger Week 4
Yesterday, as we were getting ready for school, Jordan called me Emmeline Harris.
Obviously I took offense, so I called her Emmeline Harris' grandmother.
This devolved into us yelling Anne of Green Gables insults at each other.
J: MORGAN HARRIS
C: PAUL IRVING
J: USELESS MR LYNDE
C: REVEREND ALLEN WITH THE SIDEBURNS
J (running into the kitchen): MOODY SPURGEON
Dad (sitting in the kitchen, talking to Mom): I can't hear anything because someone just yelled moody spurgeon in my ear

My sister has this solar powered wooden toy that she built and it's basically a wheel that slowly brings a marble up to the top, and when it reaches the top it rolls out and down a spiral and back to the bottom. She put it on our dinner table in the sun room, and so every once in awhile, right when I forget that it's there, it clicks forward and I hear the marble roll out. It's startling but makes me weirdly really happy every time.

Wright Week 4
The one thing I hate the most about going to the Burlington mall is that the salespeople always calls my mom and I sisters. I personally think we look nothing alike, and it annoys me because every time it happens my mom feels like everyone needs to now and she starts dancing.
Morton Week 3
Is it a normal thing for (roughly) six year old boys to develop a fascination with the Titanic and her sister ships?
Monday, March 6, 2017
Vuilleumier Week 4
What makes something socially unacceptable? There are some things considered too rude and offensive to talk about among a sophisticated crowd while others are perfectly acceptable, why is that? Is the emphasis, the thing that makes them wrong or right, behind the thing itself or the implied meaning, or both? What gives them their meaning? And if somethings are considered unacceptable, then why is it that some people may not find them offensive while others do? What would happen if nothing was considered unacceptable or too offensive? What would happen then?
Teddy Week 4
Driving to school, I saw two girls standing on opposite sides of the road, standing toward one another. They were waiting for the bus to come. I thought they may have been talking to each other. And I thought: what a funny way to have a conversation! From across the street.
Sunday, March 5, 2017
Emma Week 3
Some stranger that you pass on the street may be having the absolute best day they can ever remember having, the absolute worst day they can ever remember having, or the most average day they can ever remember having. Assume they're having the worst day they can ever remember having and try to make it better.
Wright Week 3
"The truth is what I make it. I could set the world on fire and call it rain." -Victoria Aveyard, Red Queen

Surampudi Week 3
reverse dementors: instead of sucking out people's souls, they could rejuvenate dying souls
Surampudi Week 2
imagine if there was another universe inhabited solely by characters from films and novels, and they watched movies and read books about us.
MacKenzie Week 3
Dawn and dusk are the very best times of the day. They come right before and after the shadows come out to play, dancing like little puppets strung up by the sun. Yes, they're the best times of day to be awake and alive because you can just exist in solitude while the rest of the world sleeps--alone but not lonely.

Vuilleumier Week 3
I have a grocery bag of soda cans next to my desk that I'm too lazy to bring downstairs. It's over flowing and has been sitting there for weeks. Yet I've gone back and fourth between the kitchen and my room 2 times in the past hour for snacks... the bag is still sitting there
Kay Week 3
i was driving on the highway the other night and when i looked back in my rearview, it was pitch black. nothing behind me, no light no cars no nothing it was weird

In New York I had to keep reminding myself to look up. Not directly up above my head, but UP and OUT.
And for some reason I was vaguely disgusted by the sight of people taking pictures. I do it all the time, but I kept asking why they couldn't just be there.

-Day, from Legend by Marie Lu
-Day, from Legend by Marie Lu
MacKenzie Week 2
We have faith that the ones we've lost will get into Heaven, praying that their souls meet our Maker and not our destroyer. We hope that they have safe travels from one life to the next, putting more stock into where they will end up than what they've left behind. But then we shove them into a box, sealing them off from the world and burying them in the ground, so far away from the sky we want them to reach.
Teddy Week 2
I was so mesmerized by the moon this week. The way it glowed, and how dark clouds passed in front of it in patchy waves. I looked up at it through the window and forgot where I was. I could have sat there on the kitchen floor staring at it for hours.
Fridrich Week 2
Aunt Kelly’s Homemade Root Beer(™) tastes like yeast and poor decisions. Mostly yeast.

Emma Paulauskas Week 2
I think about this way too often and it's really annoying to think about and really hard to explain.... What if we both called a certain color red but your "red" was my blue and my red was your purple and we just never knew. All of us could be seeing the world in totally different colors but we all have a common name for the different colors. Also I saw something on twitter the other day that said that you can't imagine a new color.

Emma Paulauskas Week 1
The past few weeks I have been looking through my dad's old pictures and belongings from his childhood home. I saw how happy it made him to see all of these pictures and memories after not seeing them for literal decades. This made me want to take as many pictures and make as many memories as I possibly could to look back on later in life.
Golash_Week One
"In your most nightmarish fever dreams"
I came up with this line while lying in my bed, sick. I had just woken up and I was trying to remember the dream I just had when this line popped into my head.
Teddy Week 1
I saw my friend who never shows emotion cry multiple times in one night... from happiness. He hugged me twice, which is two more times than he has ever hugged me. It was weird. For the first time in all the 6 years I've known him, I didn't feel intimidated by him.

Ciara Week One
The idea occurred to me at 8:57 a.m. on January 30th while I let my mind wander (in other words, run 30 km/s). A vague concept I had considered in the first week of freshman year upon being reminded that vikings actually discovered America, and centuries before Columbus was even born, resurfaced from the recess of my conscious. The traces of indications that Slavic languages had influence on those of Native Americans' came to mind, and the idea that logically speaking offspring of vikings and natives would be born occurred as well. Instantly, the Ahayuta (twin warrior gods of Zuni mythology) popped up, though it occurred to me that the Zuni occupied a region in New Mexico, and would not be at all logically proximal to the locations (namely, New England and Canadian coasts) that vikings explored primarily. Achiyalabopa (another Native American deity; somewhat an equivalent to the Japanese Karasu no Tengu) seemed more fitting to the images that came to mind of a protagonist. I happened to see the word halberd in whatever I was reading, and I automatically adopted that as the protagonist's weapon of choice, per se; (you can't write a story about vikings and/or Native Americans and not have awesome weaponry). The Nordic 'Niidhog' (a legendary black dragon) additionally came to mind. Somehow I'd like to work this together to create a story!
Week 1
Story telling can be done in a song, writing, movies, tv, or a small group of friends at a campfire or sleepover. I love to tell and hear stories and the passion and laughter, and the emotions that come with it.
MacKenzie Week 1
We as humans are poignantly aware of the state of the human condition and yet it continues to grow darker and we do nothing to stop it.
Clay Week 1
I was driving home on the highway at night and the light from my headlights illuminated a pole on the side of the road oddly. It looked like the pole bent and warped for a second or two, then returned to its normal state. Light can really manipulate the way we see things. Light is the only way we see things.
Week 1
In my head was an amorphous gale of things to say, but after the storm had run its course only teardrops filled the page.
Madison Week 1
"Hey do you have a pencil?" "No, but you know what I do have?" "What?" "Spunk." "I hate you."

Vuilleumier Week 1
We make our own stars in the light of the bridges and buildings set against a pure black sky. Clouds, man-made or natural, block real stars from shining through.
Morton Week 1
The idea of the angels smiting unspecified political figures brings me cathartic pleasure.
Fridrich Week 1
Ever since my life changed, a single quote has been floating around in my head.

O'Connor Week 15
It's crazy how some people can look at a piece of art and only see the vulgarity. Some people are just so close minded that they fail to look at the message that is staring them right in the face.
Caplan - Week 14
Looking back on entries 1-3, I can really see how much easier it is to write about negativity.
It sounds really whiny.
So next week I'm going to try really hard to write about nice things.

Cajolet - Week 14
The TV show Shadowhunters is returning for a season two soon and I feel very conflicted about it. On one hand, the actors are terrible and it's horrifyingly cringe worthy. But on the other hand I feel a fierce sense of loyalty to the books which makes me want to watch it. A first world problem for sure.
