Sacco and Vanzetti were 2 Italian immigrants wrongfully accused of murder in the 1920s. Due to the xenophobia of the time, their case is infamous for being riddled with racism, false evidence, and heavy bias. The two of them denied having anything to do with the case, but they still recieved the death penalty. Years later, it's been revealed that Sacco was the actual murderer, but Vanzetti was innocent.
What's that like? Having an obligation to your countryman, do you go down with him? Or do you rat him out for your own safety? Did Vanzetti ever know of the truth? It must've been terrifying.
