Nelson Post 12

You know you live on a farm when getting chased by a flock of menacing chickens is a daily struggle.

Whenever I drive by a police car, I can feel my heart stop for a second, even though I am doing nothing wrong. This should not happen, because the police are out there to keep us safe. I think movies and media too often mock police or make them seem evil, which is not the case.

Cianciolo: Week 11

I have a vivid memory of riding an elephant even though my parents insist I never have. In my dream I was riding an elephant which became a horse, so I woke up and asked my parents if I ever rode a horse as a child, which I apparently did when I wasn't even one, so it was probably a horse, and not an elephant.

Cianciolo: Week 10

It might be a nice change to be the prey sometime. To be hunted down just to feel what it is like. We didn't really get to the top of the food chain, we just kind of got out of it.

Cianciolo Week 9

People tend to measure the world in terms of their height or max reach. As a kid I could never touch the lowest branch of the tree in my front yard.  I had always seen that height as some ever increasing height that I would never reach. As I got older the branch seemed to raise at the same rate as I was growing. As a teenager I have spent most of my time in my room or with my friends, so I never am in my front yard. The other day I let my dog out in the front yard and the branch was at my chest. That infinite height I saw as a kid is now shorter than I am. Growing up is terribly depressing sometimes.

Madie 11

When people say "I love you" or "I hate you" why do we take it so personally? They are telling us about themselves. "I love you" is a phrase we so often associate with ourselves as if by being told those 3 words tells us we are worthy, but in reality when someone says that they love you, it's a statement about them not you.

The media will sometimes ask questions literally designed to damage your reputation.. Why?
