Often times, I feel like a 20 year old woman struggling to pay rent who lives alone w a puppy, but other times I feel like a 7 year old. How am I expected to make life decisions?

I never truly understood who I was until I had shattered myself all over the ground and had to pick myself up and put myself back together.

Sydney Kim Post 3

I asked my dad a question about his childhood. He couldn't remember. So I asked him one about when he was in high school and he couldn't remember that either. At that point, I wasn't sure if he really couldn't remember or if he just wanted me to stop talking to him.

Judging from my dad's personality and appearance, he must've had a rough time in high school. If he really couldn't remember anything, then maybe we as humans tend to forget the things we don't want to remember. That as we age, and our brain gets filled with more memories, we replace an old, bad memory with a new, good memory. Well I'm sorry to say this, but in about 50 years, when my child or grandchild asks me a question about my high school experience, I'm probably going to say, "I don't remember." Sorry.

There's two different brands of water in a case. The more expensive, brand name water has less in it, and the less expensive not name brand has more in there. I wonder why people would buy the more expensive one rather than cheaper one that's the same minus the label.

Nelson Post 3

In general, two philosophies about life exist, that people should live in the moment or for the future. Unfortunately, both bring about regrets. Living in the moment can cause reckless decision-making, whereas living for the future can cause a person to feel empty.

I recently rekindled my love for Miguel De Cervantes's Don Quixote. A minor character who isn't focused on much in the book is Alonso Quijana (Don Quixote's) niece, Antonia, a young girl who has taken care of him as he has descended into madness. The most insight we get into what happens to her during the events of the book is that she burns all of her uncle's adventure books in an attempt to keep him from developing further delusions. I would like to write a story centered around her as she fights the madness that runs in her family and embarks on her own adventures through La Mancha and down the coast of Spain.

While rolling coins I checked the years for rare ones that would be worth more money than the coin value. I laid the coins down in rows with the faces facing the same direction. It very much resembled an army plat in iron or steel. The dimes seemed to be like the elves: thin, neat, and light on their feet. The quarters were like orcs: hulking, heavy, but not so tactful. The pennies resembled the dwarves in their bronze and dwarven armor. The nickels resembled the army of men: average size and average weight, but tons of heart. I was in charge of these armies and I controlled the fate of these silly little warriors who have lived there whole life training for war, believing all the while they were in control of the battle.

Distraction is not the art of life, but rather the death of it. To live is to feel everything, good or bad or in between. Mindless activity is sometimes necessary for mental health. but n excess leads to a permanent mindlessness.

I’ve tried writing about the idea of the feeling of total loss of consciousness so many times, but it seems impossible. Like I can’t grasp the idea of pure nothingness. Everyone seems so unable to wrap their heads around the vastness of the universe, but what about absolutely nothing? Is feeling, seeing, hearing, and thinking absolutely nothing even possible? Is that why people like to believe in an afterlife? Because nothingness is worse than hell?

I always look at dogs and wonder what humans did to deserve their love. Truly, nothing. Not that humans are bad or anything, but I believe dogs are the most kind, loving, and humane creatures on the planet. They are far better than we will ever be.

My grandmother tells me that if I was a mother, then I would believe in creationism because I would see that the miracle of life could only come directly from god. I couldn't disagree more. We are created from the souls and dust of stars who loved us soo much, they died so that we could live. How beautiful is that?

The fascination with maps is absolutely intriguing, contradictory, and rather ironic. A map exudes feelings of adventure, the unknown, and endless possibilities-- yet a map is the complete opposite of that, for all of the possibilities are laid out right there in front of you. Every route is marked and every landmark noted. There is nothing tangible for you to explore, only feelings and memories for you to create and find. I guess that's where the true exhilaration stems from.

A depressed woman struggles to go home but is unable to because of the war between her home country and the country she was forced to live in by the congress of her home country. But she soon figures out that the only way to go home is to abandon all of her newfound friends and switch sides to the one that goes against her morals.

From a dream:
I went out for dinner at Gibbet Hill which was the highest point on earth. It sat on a multi-mile high stone column. I am unsure of how I got to this place. People would take their enemies to this place and they would wrestle on the edges to try to push the other off to their deaths. People also would commit suicide from this cliff. When people jumped off, everyone would clap that they were going to Heaven when they died. There was also a small crab shack down the road on the cliff where everyone ate because Gibbet Hill was too expensive for us.

"If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?” Not a day goes by that I don’t think about this Albert Einstein quote. My mom will look at my notes and my desk at home and my messy folders and think of how disorganized I am. And it’s true, I have such a messy, disorganized head, but I rather have that then a head wiped clean a million times. There are so many ideas, so many things I need to write down. When Albert Einstein died, his desk was a mess. Because all his life he never let go. His head was still busy… it is sad that all that was wiped clean before he could finish.

Bergeron - Post 2

A friend of mine and I went walking and stayed out until the sun went down, sitting out on the golf course of a country club neither of us could ever afford to be a part of. We enjoyed the beauty of the stars, the fog, and the cop cars that lit up the trees with their warning lights. When we were walking home, it had grown cold and the entire town had gone to sleep. We were both extremely startled when a red van zipped past us and a woman's voice rang out from inside. "DON'T GO WALKING AT NIGHT." She screamed. Since then I haven't stopped wondering why she thought we shouldn't.

I read an article about how performance-enhancing drugs should be allowed because nature doesn't create everybody equal and everybody should be judged off of effort instead of natural ability. What value does the natural have if it can be enhanced artificially? Are we trying to level the playing field when it's not supposed to be? Probably; life isn't supposed to be fair.

Something is wrong when I can’t go on a walk with my dog on the trails without gripping my phone and getting worried whenever I pass a man. Today we watched a video in psychology about the bystander effect, and examined a specific case study where 38 witnesses did absolutely nothing to help Kitty Genovese, who they watched get brutally murdered. Can a witness be faulted for failing to protect another human being? Do we promote evil by doing nothing to change it? I believe that people are accountable for protecting one another to prevent great destruction and chaos.

The three stars that follow Ursa Major, the bear-made-constellation (The big dipper), are three brothers that can't seem to outsmart the bear and catch it. They spend their lives hunting it while their youngest brother, the forgotten fourth star whom they sent to hunt Ursa Minor (The little bear), is left to have his own adventures, knowing that his three older brothers will be forever chasing Ursa Major.

An underdeveloped idea, but an intriguing thought to have while stargazing.

What if someone raised their hand in a biology or physics class and said something so profound that it broke the entire lesson. In one sentence, they proved everything and anything wrong. The teacher would just stop there, and think, and be unable to continue. The moment the student spoke, the whole purpose of anyone sitting in those classroom chairs would be revoked. There no longer would be a reason to go to school anymore - everything would just be so blurry and confusing...The world would just stop there and think for a beat or two.

From a dream:
My mother and I were being hunted by my Aunt and she was trying to kill us. We went to the townspeople in this medieval town, and they were all lawn gnomes who had come to life. A peaceful community, these gnomes used only bows. We needed weapons, so we asked them about their bows and arrows. The gnomes used wooden bows with ice arrows. The arrows would melt as they hit the water and by the time they reached the fish, the ends would be dulled to a point where it would only stun the fish and not kill it. They did not want me to kill my Aunt, but only to stun it.

"Don't let yourself be controlled by people, money or past experiences". This caught my eye because being yourself and being true to yourself is the key to success and happiness. It taught me that no matter what is happening in life, to always see the rainbow after the rain and to take in the beauty of that. Being yourself is an important part of life and everyone should live for the individualism and happiness, and never let go of it.

I am addicted to autumn. For me, it's truly the season of love, when the cold forces us to huddle together, emotionally and physically. We are batting down the hatches before winter. There's just something about the smell of an evening campfire, the gentle and hushed haze of allspice, cloves, cinnamon, and apples painting the air. There's just something about watching a misty October rain shower while curling up in fleece blankets with chocolate milk and a book. Autumn is optimistic, it's healing, it's refreshing, it's reassuring in a way spring or summer never were for me.

Who decided that "north" meant "up"? Why is the arctic at the top of the Earth? It can just as easily be at the bottom since in space, there isn't really an up and down. East and West I understand; they follow the direction of the sun– left to right. Even if the arctic was recorded to be at the bottom, we would still be calling it North.
